Finally a book with a kickass girl who is capable of taking care of herself.  She is the true main character that can stand alone, and doesn't get all dependent on the other characters. As you can tell, I am over the weak female leads that are not complete until they fine "the one".

This book is a paranormal, with some romantic undertones that are sure to get stronger in the second book, about werewolves. As with most firsts in a series, a lot of the book is dedicated to world building and background information, but no in  a boring way at all.  The characters are all interesting, and have their own fun quirks and stories.  

The real meat of the book starts about halfway through when you find out this wolf pack is different than most wolf packs.  They have an agenda, and are not afraid to use people to get there.  

The first book does end in a cliffhanger, but the second on is already out, and I am downloading it as we speak. 

Another plus, the first book is only 99 pennies, and the second on is 2.99.  I would definitely check this series out.

The hardest part of being a werewolf is having no control and no memory of her time as a blood thirsty beast. When a moon cycle passes and she actually remembers bits and pieces of the night, she starts to ask questions, and the more questions she asks, the more she realizes she doesn't like the answers. Can she set aside her own sense of morals to belong to a pack that is like a family or will she leave everything behind yet again in search of a life she can be proud of?

It was sooooo bad.

I feel like someone took all the annoying traits from New Adult (virgins, billionaires, abs, clueless female lead, ect.) and jumbled them together for one book. You have a weak female lead who is....wait for it.....a virgin stripper from Georgia. She actually collapses with despair at the drop of a hat. If some actually fainted with despair in front of me I would point and laugh.

The male counterpart is a bad boy actor with millions and millions to waste, who falls in love with said virgin stripper in three minutes. You know the type, troubled, rough childhood that he suppresses with an endless string of booze, bimbos, and drugs until he meets the shining light that is Grey.

It is really that bad.

So this little gem comes out in Feb. 2014, but I was lucky enough to get an ARC. It is amazing. I am only half way through and it is already one of my favorites she has in the series. Can't wait to write the review.

Update: it will be getting 5 stars, it was that good.

When I got approved for this ARC I did a serious happy dance.  I loved the first one, and have been waiting like a 5 year old on Christmas Eve for the next one.  Now I have it my hot little hands.  I let you guys know how it is.  If you haven't read the first one, go check it out.

3.5-4 stars

This book gives a lot of back story on the men of the Eagle Elite you get to see how they interacted as children, and now as adults.  It gave you a glimpse of how even though they are "bosses" they are still only in their early 20's.  

Things I loved

1. The love triangle is alive and well. There is so much tension between Chase and Nixon, while Trace seems clueless

2. Trace shoots someone, and they totally deserve it.  I was shocked and laughing at the same time.

3. We get to meet a new character Mil, and I have a girl crush on her.  She is awesome, and apparently will play a big part in the next book.

4. It made me cry a little, I never cry at books, so this was a major accomplishment.  A character that I hated and wanted to wear the cement shoes ended up making me feel bad for him.  

5. Tons of action.  I never knew who was going to get shot, who was on top, and who was double crossing.

6. Nixon quotes Shakespeare....swoon

Things that made me a little nuts

1. The love aspect was kind of glossed over.  I would have liked a more romantic side...read a little smutty.

2. Holy cliffhanger batman....but at least I will be assured of another book.

3. I would have like more girl POV's

In the end, I loved it and will be reading the next one. But, I will read anything this woman writes.  If you are looking for a series that is Romeo and Juliet meets the Godfather, this one is for you.

OK, so after waiting for ages for Amazon to get their stuff together and publish this, alright I am being melodramatic it was only like an extra day, I finally got this hot little number on my iPad.  I have loved all three books in the series, this one was probably my least favorite, but it was still good. I would recommend it if you have already read the first two.  While the other two focused a little more on the dialog and connections, this was more sex driven.  But it was hot and well written sex I will have to admit.  In some books when an author tries to write a M/F/M scene I end up feeling like I need a white board to draw out what is happening because I don't know what is going where.  Bella nailed it.  There was no confusion, and I was not left asking myself "Did anyone wash their hands after that before starting in on something else", or "that's going to cause an infection"

Well done Miss Jewel, you have once again delivered and I can't wait to read all about the Pirates!!!

What is a Muse? A friendly reminder

The Muses Greek mythology, poetry and literature, are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge, related orally for centuries in the ancient culture that was contained in poetic lyrics and myths.

The Nine Muses: Clio, Thalia, Erato, Euterpe, Polyhymnia, Calliope, Terpsichore, Urania, Melpomene 

The muses are said to be the daughters of Zues, also called Nymphs at times. Some authors invoke Muses when writing poetry, hymns or epic history. The invocation typically occurs at or near the beginning, and calls for help or inspiration, or simply invites the Muse to sing through the author.


Muse can also be used to describe a) a guiding spirit or b) a source of inspiration. They are most often associated with works of poetry, or epic literature.


If you are using the term Muse to describe your hunky young cover model that can't string sentences together, please stop. Especially if said "Muse" came about AFTER the work of fiction was written. There is also no such thing as musing, or I mused this.

This is my Robert and Elizabeth.  The eyes are what made me choose him, the attitude and voice made me choose Anne Hathaway.  She just seems the spunky, mischievous
 type. He looks like he could get in some trouble to.

This was her first Historical novel that is a prequel to one of my favorite series "Neighbors From Hell". 
For the die hard historical romance reader, this may not be deep enough in the "ton" for you, but it still pretty accurate. I have a History degree and nothing bothered me, so you should be OK.  
If you have ever wanted to know why the Bradfords do the what they do, this will explain it.  The eloping, serious affection for food, and use of the word bastard.
The book starts with Jason making an anniversary present for Haley, and his father telling the story of how the tradition all began.  It had a Princess Bride feel to it, kind of fade to the 19th century.  You meet a young love-struck Elizabeth, and a bratty Robert Bradford.  Of course Elizabeth is not love-struck for Robert, so he does everything he can to embarrass and harass her, like all Bradford men.  They part ways for 14 years while Robert goes to school, and Elizabeth becomes a lady, sorta.

They meet back up at a Ball thrown during the season where Elizabeth is supposed to find a husband, or end up a spinster at the ripe old age of 24. Hilarity ensues, as well as really sweet and hot interactions. The steam component is definitely amped up in this novel.  Of course I like that.  But, who wouldn't with all those stays to untie, and bodices to rip, gets me every time.

I can't gush enough about this book, I just loved it.  There was a smile on my face throughout most of the reading.  I even laughed out loud a couple of times, which made my kids and husband look at me like I was crazy, but they are used to it by now. Perfection used to be my favorite, but now I think Truce will be my go-to re-read when I need a pick me up.
